mussings from the 8th floor….
ok.time for serious writing. guess you all noticed me being a bit "offbeat" for several previous posts - less liberal in my views.well guess what? i’m back to my normal self.
firstly, being a borneo born, i feel kind of offended with the whole 50 year Malaysia thing.Malaya dapat kemerdekaan frm British 1957. but Malaysia ? Sejarah form 3 recap;
Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore joined in the 14-State federation in 1963, which then the term "Malaya" was then replaced by "MALAYSIA". Singapore then since left the federation in 1965, subsequently became an independent country.
so if we’re celebrating our independence from the Brits, fine by me, but slogans such as "50 Years of Malaysia" is definitely misleading.aint it?
cuz can they count properly, or is it year 2013 already? bugger.im 29 then.aiiyak.
so when i read this thing on Malaysia-Today which stated that CM of Sabah didnt want to participate with the 50 year celebration, i agree.for once.yep.dats the correct thing to do!
put this in a context ; you, joined in a company or an organization in a much later stage, and from the point you joined, subsequent growth occurs.u re branded them (a.k.a new name lah).your entry brought a huge change for the better…then when they want to laud it in their celebrations few years down the road, they start to reminisce the days prior to your joining, proclaiming it being good(not that it was bad or anything) since the day before you joined, and even have the audacity of proclaiming the usage of the "strategy" you brought in was used prior to your joining. man.id be pissed.
well yeah, maybe its a subtle knock to hantam Singapore. but until when la? cant grow up is it us Malaysia? 50 years man. and when Singapore speaks up, some quarters who cant take criticism will lash back, saying them as being ungrateful, bla bla bla, ungkit back the whole "you were once part of us", hormat sikit yr closest economic neighbor, respect the "bigger" nation.shit like that.even when we are just say…barely few years elder than Singapore je pun.
arent you spitting to the sky? cuz some air headed people in Malaysia talk cock of the US, over petty issues, padahal US is a country with more than 200 years of independence…? hmmm….
then again have you heard about the plans to put up the Union Jack, on the eve of the 31st Aug, and a "symbolic" taking it down thinggy? sort of to re enact the happenings of 50 years ago.
mighty disrespectful dont u think? well i certainly agree with Raja Petra when he wrote in his blog in Malaysia-Today that some monkeys will go nuts if SIngapore decided to pull off a similar stunt like that, using our flag.
well its a case of,you like to hit, but can you take a hit? do i hear a sound….?similar to the Chicken RIce Shop advert on radio….? the sound that goes after the tagline "The…Chicken …Rice…Shop…Chicken Rice and More….! *some sound effect* "
you know that sound effect dont ya? well dats exactly some buggers are like in Malaysia.
kids nwdays.read abt the stuff where they re being punished, and a huge roar of disapproval coming out.without taking any sides ,i believe that kids nwdays are lacking in the discipline and attitude part. easy to say, compared to my time (talking as if im an old geezer-certainly feels like it at times) , they have it easy.
they need a "people touch" in learning.therefore, id say, bring back the heydays of the rotan.it works for me.it worked during my time.and im sure as hell it will work now. this term was coined during my secondary school years, of a teacher who walks around, sort of dragging his huge rotan.so when he walks, you can hear the sound of the rotan scraping the cement he’s walking on.mighty scary i tell you. the term coined was ;
"K@$$!M…Just Rotan It…!" -like the Nike advert.
SMK Perimbun people would know.
as for the ragging in unis.define ragging.come kids.dats nothing.not to say ragging is alright la.it never is.but if u cant stand a lil bit of shit, how r u gonna get thru yr uni life? worse, in real life…? learn to live with it.trust me.
u would trade for it once u end up with a passive-aggressive co worker jackass who uses his/her senior level post to push you around.nak complain? dat means signing off yr resignation letter. best way, live with it, maneuver thru it, deal with it.in yr own way.
i like the method of separating personal and professional stuff.it works.in d office,u may be my senior, but outside office hours? …iDOGIVAFAK!
what is "monster" in Malay? is it Raksasa, or is it Rasaksa, Resakse, or Monster ultraman? hmm…as i remember it, its d first one "Raksasa".but people tend to pronounce it as Resakse..hmmm….
what is the original price of books we are purchasing anyway? i mean, the Harry Potter books.selling price, recommended price (not Tesco or Carrefour) is RM 109.90. is it really the recommended price? if they say selling at 69.90 means the hypermarts rugi, i dont believe it.do you knw some marts are selling it at 5 Euros (or is it pounds?) ….???dat makes a direct conversion rate, say times, 7. is RM 35.00?!!! fuckin hell.i wanna know wat are the markups to the books then! we are being ripped off! i dare say, even when the main bookstores give a 20-25% discount on the books today (dat means a 25% brings the price of the books to RM 82.50) we re still being ripped!
told ya. hype.ure paying for the ticket to be in the hype.not because its the first reprint or anything.well yeah, first prints are always valuable, but i doubt Potter fans are much into that angle. (if suddenly Paris Hilton endorses kuih cekodok, dare i say, even cekodok will cost 5 bux a piece.price will skyrocket even more if Lindsay Lohan decided for a cekodok only diet, Victoria Beckham spotted eating one with a latte, and Jamie Oliver makes his own version of "Le Che’cho doque" )
then…what abt the normal books then….?i usually do a cross check on the prices of the comics i buy, (DC, Vertigo, Marvel, Dark Horse etc) and calculate on the price if sold locally , kira direct currency exchange la….and it seems alright…albeit over head and shipping costs. e.g. Say, a Batman comic is sold for US$14.90 , times it with say, 3.5, is RM 52.15. Usually sold at RM55.00. acceptable la.
but in case of these Harry Potter books? hmm.no wonder JK Rowling is richer than Queen Elizabeth II.
saw the new proton advert? comes out in August. i dnt knw d name, but looks kinda cool.
no longer based on a Mitsubishi (so no more idiots who aspire for an Evo, but end up pimping up their Wira) , comes with a 1.6 engine, starts at 45k++ for a base line model(kira basic la, got CD Player4 power windows), till 55k++ for a hi line model(mahal one la, dual airbags, EBD,ABS) ….menyesal lak i rembat my Wira awal awal…nonetheless, i still luv my Mikaila.(hey, i named her way before Transformers was showing keh!) …good price.considering Viva is also a 40k++ model.
more tech specs, 1.6L, 110bhp (As compared to a 95 bhp in a Wira;300bhp++ in Ferraris and Porsches, and 1000bhp++ in a Koenisegg-sigh…)
anyways, i hope its a bomb.so that someone i know (very close) can buy it, and i end up driving their car instead.*hint hint! Brandon…..=P
finally, a nice car, made in Malaysia after years, which i wont segan to drive one.
minus the old Wira and Waja, the newer models….
Viva looks like an illegitimate child of a Kancil and MyVi,or a shrunk Avanza; Savvy looks like a dung beetle, MyVi’s got a huge butt, and Tiara…the only good thing with the car is its name.
honestly, i hope its a good car, and carries a respectable name. im afraid they would decide to call it something totally ridiculous…like Proton Merdeka, or even worse, Proton Pendekar. however, hope for a good name seems bleak.
rainy season people.well, im enjoying it if its d weekend, but unfrtunately, i have a 5 work day thing.so darn!
stay indoors, stay cool.avoid d flu bug.im down with one.
im off for now.
